Please, when you sign a DI book, PRINT your name, then scribble your signature, initials, moniker, whatever.
Looking back through DI books today, there are many instances of the name being written as a signature. Without recognising the signature, it is difficult to know who to ask if there is a query.
We maintenance fixers sometimes need to ask for more detail and we can't do that if we don't know who wrote the note.
Thanks!

Re: Signing DI books
Hi Barry
If I DI a club a/c and find it serviceable I shall carefully print T. Rowland. If I find it unserviceable and it has to be grounded, I shall carefully print P. Clarke and then run away and deny all knowledge. Does that fall within acceptable parameters?

Re: Signing DI books
Ah, but now we know who P. Clarke really is!
Re: Signing DI books
Damn...a flaw in my cunning plan!
Re: Signing DI books
Could I also remind pilots signing the DI book that the first column is headed Day & Date.
I can never remember the date but can (mostly) remember what day it is. A few years ago I went to fly the K21 and checked it had been DI'd. There was a name and signature but only the date - that day's. Luckily I saw the pilot who had signed the book and said "I see you have DI'd the 21" to which he replied "No I haven't done it today, I DI'd it yesterday" - he had got the date wrong ! If there is only a date or only a day then you need to check a DI has been done.
