Alliance annual inspection

I was hoping to complete the annual inspection today (Friday 13th) but there are still one or two things left to do.
Unfortunately I have other commitments Saturday and I am rostered BI on Sunday, so it might not get completed this weekend. The weekend forecast is not good, so I'll work on it Sunday if the BI flights are cancelled.

The Alliance is rigged and at the front of the hangar. If the hangar is unpacked tomorrow, please put the Alliance back at the front of the hangar and make it accessible.

What has taken the time? The actual inspection does not take all that long, a couple of days would see it done. But there are always some repairs to do, and the glider always needs a thorough wash and polish. Turning the fuselage and wings over needs additional help, so we only make progress when some muscle is available at the time it is needed.

Extraordinary jobs this time were replacing the PTT switches, which we had noted as unreliable, and fixing the T&S which was found inop shortly before the annual. We also chose to fill and paint some gouges and lifting gel, mainly on the underside front fuselage, to preserve the underlying structure.

Thanks to all the many members who helped at various times, in particular to Andrew Prentice who single handedly hard waxed both wings. And was still smiling afterwards.
