New radios in club fleet

Post by BarryL » Tue Jun 27, 2017 6:06 pm

All the club gliders have now been fitted with new TQ-Dittel KRT2 radios. The 2-seaters have also been fitted with a second control unit in the back seat so that instructors can control the radio during experience and training flights.

Basic instructions:

There are two frequencies displayed, the top one is the active frequency. Once switched on, the Milfield frequency of 130.1 MHz should be displayed in the top line, unless someone has changed it. Usually, all you will want to do is twiddle the knob to set the volume.

A number of frequencies have been pre-programmed. Press the MEM button and then twiddle the knob to select the one you want. That then appears in the lower line as the standby frequency. Pressing the EXCHANGE button (to the right of the knob) swaps standby and active.

The DUAL button allows you to monitor the active and standby frequencies simultaneously, but transmission can only be on the active frequency.

The AUD button cycles through a menu of functions, all adjusted using the knob. Volume is the default, if left for 15 or 20 seconds the function returns to volume. A single press gives squelch, best left at 2 in gliders although the K21 needs 5 at the moment.
6 presses gives you the display brightness setting. Please do not try adjusting any other settings.
